Harry Aaron Finkelman (born May 26, 1914), known professionally as Ziggy Elman,
was an American jazz and swing trumpeter from Philadelphia. Elman began
performing for nightclubs at age 15 and made a first recording in 1932. In 1936,
the trumpeter joined the Benny Goodman orchestra. While with Goodman, Elman
recorded the recording "And the Angels Sing", which reached Number 1 on the
charts in 1939. Elman led the group Ziggy Elman and His Orchestra and received
honors in the Down Beat magazine poll six times between 1940 and 1947. Elman
