Yoshie Fruchter
Yoshie Fruchter, born Yehoshua Fruchter on February 1, 1982, in Silver Spring,
Maryland, is an American guitarist, bassist, oud player, and composer. He grew
up in an Orthodox Jewish household and studied jazz at the University of
Maryland before relocating in 2005 to Brooklyn, New York. His debut album,
Pitom, appeared on Tzadik Records in 2008 and was described by The Wall Street
Journal as a dazzling debut. He followed with the band Pitom's second album,
Blasphemy and Other Serious Crimes (2011), which was named one of the 2011
