Xu Wei, born 21 July 1968 in China, is a Chinese rock singer whose early life
saw him take up guitar at sixteen and win a first‑place prize in an Xi’an guitar
contest in 1986. After leaving university entrance exams to pursue music, he
served in the People’s Liberation Army from 1987 to 1990, composing pop‑oriented
songs during that period. Xu Wei emerged as a prominent guitarist in 1993 with
the formation of the band 飞 (Vuela), later transitioning to a solo career that
