Winston Groovy
Winston Gilbert Tucker, better known as Winston Groovy, born in 1946 in the
Waltham Park Road area of Kingston, Jamaica, is a reggae singer. After moving to
Birmingham in 1961, he joined the band The Ebonites and later relocated to
London in 1969, where he began recording with producer Laurel Aitken and
released early singles such as "Yellow Bird" and "Standing at the Corner". His
first major hit came in 1971 with "I Wanna Be Loved", produced by Lee “Scratch”
Perry, and he followed with the reggae cover of Rufus Thomas' "Funky Chicken" in
