White Lightning
White Lightning was an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1968 by
guitarist Tom “Zippy” Caplan and bassist Woody Woodrich. The band’s breakthrough
came with the single "Of Paupers and Poets" in 1968, which received early
airplay on KDWB after a mix‑up with Cream. They toured locally and contributed a
cover of "William Tell Overture" to the soundtrack of Zachariah (1971). The band
disbanded in 1971 amid musical differences, and its members pursued separate
projects thereafter.
