Wayne Carson was an American country musician, songwriter, and producer born in
the United States in 1943. Wayne Carson Head moved to Nashville in 1962 and
collaborated with the publisher Si Siman. Their breakthrough occurred when Eddy
Arnold recorded the song “Somebody Like Me” (1966), which reached Number 1 on
the country charts. In 1967, their composition “The Letter” (1967) became a hit
for The Box Tops and reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Carson co-wrote
