Walter Sylvester Page, born on February 9, 1900 in Gallatin, Missouri, was a
jazz multi-instrumentalist and bandleader. He received extensive musical
training in Kansas City, learning multiple instruments including baritone horn,
saxophone, violin, piano, and voice. Early in his career, Page worked with
Willie Lewis and Bennie Moten before forming the Blue Devils in 1925. The group
featured notable musicians like Bill "Count" Basie and Jimmy Rushing, and
