Walter De Buck, born on July 13, 1934, in Ghent, Belgium, was a Belgian singer
and sculptor. He graduated magna cum laude from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts
in Ghent in 1954 and made his debut as a sculptor at the 1958 World's Fair,
receiving several prizes for his work. In 1962, he founded the non-profit
organization Trefpunt, which subsequently restarted the Gentse Feesten in 1969.
As a folk musician, he achieved a breakthrough with the single “'t Vliegerke”
(1971). He retired from Trefpunt in 1986 to focus primarily on his sculpture
