Vido Musso
Vido William Musso, born January 16, 1913 in Carini Sicily was an American jazz
saxophonist. In 1920, he moved to Detroit where he began playing the clarinet
and in 1935 co-founded a big band with Stan Kenton in Los Angeles. The following
year, Musso collaborated with Gus Arnheim, Benny Goodman, and Gene Krupa. He
accompanied Billie Holiday and pianist Teddy Wilson on recordings in the late
1930s. He led his own bands but also played as a sideman with big bands of Harry
James, Woody Herman and Tommy Dorsey. His notable releases include "Jig-a-Jive"
