American alternative rock band, Veruca Salt, from Chicago, Illinois, was formed
in 1993 by Louise Post and Nina Gordon. The group derived its name from a
character in Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. After writing
together for over a year, they were joined by Jim Shapiro on drums and Steve
Lack on bass. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut single
"Seether" / "All Hail Me" in 1994, which led to a deal with Minty Fresh Records.
