Hansol Vernon Chwe, better known as Vernon, was born on February 18, 1998, in
Tisch Hospital, Manhattan, to a Korean father and an American mother. The family
relocated to Hongdae, South Korea when he was five. He was homeschooled after
being scouted by Pledis Entertainment, where he later trained and joined the
South Korean boy band Seventeen. Vernon, who uses his mother's maiden name as
his stage name, made his debut with Seventeen in 2015 and has since contributed
