Mildred Pulliam Whitehorn, known professionally as Veda Brown, was born on December 11, 1949, in Hayti, Missouri. She began her musical journey singing gospel music at a young age and later performed with a local rock band. In 1971, she signed with Stax Records under the stage name Veda Brown.
