Evgenía Karpoúzi, known professionally as Tzeni Karezi, was born in 1932 in
Athens, Greece. She began her career as an actress and singer, initially gaining
recognition for her theatrical performances. Her breakthrough came when she
joined the National Theatre of Greece's drama school in 1951. Karezi made her
stage debut in La belle Heléne in 1954, followed by her film debut in Laterna,
ftoheia kai filotimo in 1955. She starred in numerous films and plays throughout
the 1960s and 1970s, including notable roles in Blanche-Neige et les Sept Vieux
