Twennynine, an American R&B group founded in 1979 by jazz fusion drummer Lenny
White after leaving Return to Forever, focused on commercial funk and R&B. White
assembled a core lineup that included keyboardist Skip Anderson, bassist Barry
Johnson, guitarist Eddie Martinez, and rotating vocalists such as Lynn Davis and
Carla Vaughn. The debut album Best of Friends was released on Elektra Records in
1979, produced by Lenny White and Larry Dunn of Earth, Wind & Fire, and reached
number 15 on the Billboard Top R&B Albums chart; the single "Peanut Butter"
