Tülay German, born January 27, 1935 in Istanbul, was a Turkish singer known for
her contributions to Anatolian Pop. She began singing at age four and studied
piano with Ferdi Statzer. In the early 1960s, Tülay German gained recognition as
a jazz singer in Istanbul's urban circles. Her breakthrough came in 1964 with
the single "Burçak Tarlası", which modernized Turkish popular music by
incorporating Western harmonies. She also participated in the Balkan Melodies
