Tranzas was formed in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 1987 by Douglas Bastidas
(guitarist‑vocalist), Troi Alvarado (bassist‑coros), Alfonso Vélez (drums), and
Alberto Vicuña (keyboards). The group emerged from earlier high‑school rock
ensembles and debuted at the 1987 Rock Total Salinas, where the single
"Plástica" reached Number 1 on several national radio charts. Their first studio
album, Sueño Astral was released in 1988 followed by Parte de Ti, in 1996 under
Ifesa and Televisión Satelital; the track "Dile" dominated Ecuadorian airwaves
