Tony Reedus
Tony Reedus (September 22, 1959 – November 16, 2008) was an American jazz
drummer from Memphis, Tennessee. Inspired by his uncle, pianist James Williams,
Reedus began playing drums at age 14 and later studied music at Memphis State
University.In 1980, Reedus joined trumpeter Woody Shaw’s band, performing with
the group from 1981 until 1983. Reedus collaborated with musicians including
Dave Stryker, Mulgrew Miller, Kenny Garrett, and Benny Golson. His discography
as a leader featured the albums The Far Side (1988), Incognito (1989), Minor
Thang (1996), and People Get Ready (1998)....
