Anthony Lawrence Carey, born 16 October 1953 in Watsonville, California, is an
American singer, songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist, pianist, and bassist whose
career spans more than four decades. After playing church piano and later
joining the band Blessings, Tony Carey was recruited by Ritchie Blackmore to
join Rainbow, contributing keyboards to the 1976 album Rising and touring
worldwide; he recorded live material for On Stage (1977) and Live in Germany
(1990). In 1978 he relocated to Germany, launching a solo career that began with
