Toni Harper
Toni Harper, also known as Toni Dunlap, was a former child singer born on June
8, 1937 in Los Angeles, California. After dance training with Maceo Anderson,
she was cast by choreographer Nick Castle in Christmas Follies at the Wilshire
Ebell Theatre in 1945. Harper’s first major recording was the platinum single
"Candy Store Blues" (1948), followed by appearances on Toast of the Town. She
released the albums Toni, Lady Lonely, and Night Mood, and toured Japan with
Cannonball Adderley. Harper retired in 1966 and died on February 10, 2023 in
Palm Springs, California at age 85.
