Tokiko Kato, born Tokiko Fujimoto on 27 December 1943 in Harbin, Manchukuo, is a
Japanese singer whose career spans several decades. After graduating from the
University of Tokyo, she entered the music scene in the late 1960s and early
1970s, releasing albums such as 私の中のひとり (1970) and later Polydor titles
including この世に生まれてきたら (1974) and さびた車輪 (1977). A major turning point in her
career came earlier with the song “ひとり寝の子守唄”(1966), which established her as a
