Timothy David Minchin, aka Tim Minchin, was born on October 7, 1975 in Northampton, England, and raised in Perth, Australia. He showed an interest in music from an early age, taking up the piano at the age of eight, before dropping out three years later. He went on to study English and drama before gaining a postgraduate diploma in contemporary music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
