An icon of contemporary country music, Tim McGraw bridged the gap between
country and pop to build a lucrative career during the mid-1990s and beyond. He
was born as "Samuel Timothy McGraw" on May 1, 1967 in Start, Louisiana. After
dropping out of college in 1989 to pursue a music career, he released his
self-titled debut album in 1993. The album made little impact, but that didn't
stop its 1994 follow-up, Not a Moment Too Soon, from becoming a Number 1 country
