Tibor Elekes

Tibor Elekes is a Swiss-Hungarian double bassist born on May 3, 1960. He studied at the Swiss Jazz School from 1978 to 1983 before pursuing classical studies at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Elekes performed with musicians including Freddie Hubbard, Al Foster, Clark Terry, Dino Saluzzi, and Woody Shaw. In 1991, he became a member of the Kirk Lightsey Trio, which also accompanied vocalists such as Othella Davis. Elekes founded a quartet in 1999 with John Betsch and Muneer B. Fennell.
