Thu Minh, born Vu Thu Minh, on September 22, 1977 in Hanoi, Vietnam, is a
Vietnamese singer who initially trained as a ballet dancer. She gained fame at
age 16 by winning the first prize in the Ho Chi Minh City Television Singing
Contest. During the 1990s, Thu Minh often performed revolutionary songs and
traditional music. Her repertoire grew more diverse as she began performing
European and American songs. In 2001, she released her first album Dream (Ước
