The Rita is a harsh noise wall project formed in 1996 by Sam McKinlay. The
project's name was derived from the boat featured in Creature from the Black
Lagoon, allowing McKinlay to incorporate references to art and literature into
his work. The Rita released several albums in 1998, including Swingers Get
Killed (1998) and Possessed Nun Sleaze (1998), establishing McKinlay's
distinctive sound. Over the years, The Rita evolved, incorporating field
recordings and various influences. Notable subsequent releases include Bodies
Bear Traces of Carnal Violence (2004), Sea Wolf Leviathan ...
