The Wombats
Formed in 2003 while attending the Liverpool School of Performing Arts, The
Wombats are a British indie-rock band whose sound makes room for pop melodies
and dance tempos. Having initially released two albums only available in Japan,
the band's UK debut album The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss and
Desperation (2008) reached Number 11, propelled by the platinum-certified
breakthrough hit "Let's Dance to Joy Division." Follow-up singles "Moving to New
York" and "Backfire at the Disco" both became Top 40 hits in the UK.
