The Uniques was a Jamaican rocksteady and reggae vocal ensemble formed in 1966.
The original lineup consisted of Roy Shirley, Slim Smith, and Franklyn White.
The group released the recordings “The Journey” and “Do Me Good” in 1966 for the
Caltone label. After a brief dissolution, Smith reformed the ensemble in 1967
with Jimmy Riley and Lloyd Charmers. This lineup released the single “Watch This
Sound”, a cover of Stephen Stills’s “For What It's Worth”. Its debut studio
album, Absolutely The Uniques, appeared in 1969. The group’s discography
