The Tarriers
The Tarriers were an American vocal group from New York City. Named after the
folk song "Drill, Ye Tarriers, Drill", they achieved their breakthrough with the
1956 hit single "Cindy, Oh Cindy". The group signed with Glory Records and
released their self-titled debut album that year. They appeared in the 1957
musical Calypso Heat Wave, performing "The Banana Boat Song" . In 1965, they
accompanied Judy Collins on a tour of Poland and Russia. The Tarriers disbanded
due to the decline in popularity of folk music following the British Invasion.
