The Tammys were an American girl group formed in the early 1960s by sisters Gretchen Owens and Cathy Owens, along with their friend Linda Jones. Originally performing as The Charnelles, the trio began singing together while still in high school and soon caught the attention of singer-songwriter Lou Christie, who recruited them as backing vocalists and helped secure a recording contract with United Artists Records.
