The Shells
The Shells were an American doo‑wop ensemble formed in Brooklyn, New York, in
1957, comprising Nate Bouknight, Randy Shade, Alston Bobby Nurse, Danny Small,
Gus Geter, and Alphonse Merkman. The group scored a hit with the single "Baby Oh
Baby" released on Johnson Records, which cracked the Top 30 of the US pop charts
in 1957 and was re‑issued in 1960, reaching number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Subsequent releases include "Sippin' Soda" (1958), "She Wasn't Meant for Me"
