The Royal Teens
The Royal Teens were an American rock and roll group formed in New Jersey in
1956, originally comprising Bob Gaudio on piano, Tom Austin on drums, Billy
Dalton on guitar, and Billy Crandall on saxophone, with the ensemble later
adding Diana Lee as a vocalist. Their breakthrough came with the single "Short
Shorts" (1957) released on Power Records and later licensed to ABC‑Paramount,
which peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1958 and became a defining
