The Rays
The Rays were an American group formed in New York in 1955 and consisted of
frontman Harold Miller, tenor Walter Ford, tenor David Jones and baritone Harry
James. Their first recordings appeared on Chess Records. The group’s
breakthrough came with "Silhouettes" in 1957, which reached number 3 on the
Billboard Hot 100 and sold over one million copies, earning a gold disc; the
track was later covered by the Diamonds and Herman’s Hermits. In 1958, they
released "Rendezvous", followed by "Mediterranean Moon" (1959), which peaked at
number 95 on the Hot 100 in 1960.
