American girl group, The Raelettes, formed in 1958, were initially established
as backing vocalists for Ray Charles. The group was reformed from another
all-girl singing group called The Cookies and consisted of Darlene McCrea,
Margie Hendricks, Patricia Lyles, and Gwendolyn Berry. They provided backing
vocals on various hits by Ray Charles, including "Night Time Is the Right Time"
