The Marvelows
The Marvelows were an American soul group from Chicago formed in 1959. The band
consisted of Melvin Mason, Frank Paden, Johnny Paden, Willie Stephenson, Jesse
Smith, James Ray, Clark Turner, and Alvin Luckett. Their debut recording, the
single “I Do” (1965), reached number 7 on the R&B Singles chart and number 37 on
the Billboard Hot 100. The group rebranded as The Mighty Marvelows and released
the single “In the Morning” (1968), which reached number 24 on the R&B chart.
Their recordings include the album The Mighty Marvelows (1968) and the single
