The Lively Ones, a surf-rock band from Southern California, formed in 1962. The
group consisted of guitarists Jim Masoner and Ed Chiaverini, bassists Ron
Griffith and Joel Willenbring, and drummer Tim Fitzpatrick. Their breakthrough
came with the release of their first album Surf Rider in February 1963 under
Del-Fi Records. Throughout 1963, they released three more albums: Surf Drums,
This Is Surf City, and Surfin’ South Of The Border. Notable songs include "Surf
Rider" (a cover of The Ventures' song) and "Rik-A-Tic", which became hits.
