The Jive Bombers
The Jive Bombers was an American R&B group from New York City. The group
initially recorded under the name the Sparrows for Coral Records in 1949 before
changing their name to the Jive Bombers in 1952 to record for Citation Records.
Their breakthrough came with the release of "Bad Boy" on Savoy Records in 1957,
co-written by Avon Long and Lil Hardin. The single peaked at number 7 on the R&B
singles chart and number 36 on the Billboard Hot 100. Lead singer Clarence
Palmer was known for his unique vocal style.
