The Hollywood Stars
The Hollywood Stars were formed in Los Angeles, California in late 1973 by
manager Kim Fowley, who assembled the group as a West Coast answer to the
New York Dolls. The original lineup included vocalist Scott Phares, drummer
Terry Rae, guitarist Ruben De Fuentes, bassist Gary Van Dyke and later
Mark Anthony on lead vocals and rhythm guitar. They performed regularly at the
Whisky a Go Go. In 1974, Columbia Records signed the band and they recorded a
