The Freshmen, an Irish showband band from Larne, Co. Antrim in Northern Ireland,
formed in 1962 and became prominent during the 1960s and 1970s. Their
breakthrough came with a reworking of The Rivingtons' song "Papa Oom Mow Mow",
which featured lead singer Derek Dean's distinctive voice. The Freshmen
supported The Beach Boys on their 1967 Irish tour, impressing young musicians
like Rory Gallagher. In 1970, they released the concept album Peace On Earth,
featuring new material and narration by actor Micheál MacLiammóir. Notable
