The Folk Crusaders was a Japanese folk group from Kyoto that was active between
1965 and 1968. The ensemble was founded by the university students Kazuhiko
Katō, Osamu Kitayama, Yoshio Hiranuma, Mikio Imura, and Masaki Ashida. They
achieved professional recognition in the Kansai underground scene and are famous
for the single “Kaette kita yopparai” (“Drunkard Returns”) (1967), which became
the first Number 1 million-selling hit on the Oricon charts. Their debut studio
