The Edgar Winter Group
Edgar Holland Winter (born December 28 1946 in Beaumont, Texas) was an American
multi‑instrumentalist who led the Edgar Winter Group and achieved mainstream
success in the 1970s. After mastering keyboards, saxophone, and percussion in
his youth, he released his debut solo album Entrance in 1970, which showcased
his genre‑blending style. Winter’s next project, Edgar Winter's White Trash,
followed in 1971 and then Roadwork in 1972, the latter reaching gold status. In
late 1972 he assembled the Edgar Winter Group with Dan Hartman, Ronnie Montrose,
and Chuck Ruff, and the band releas...
