The Easy Riders, an American folk music band, were formed in 1956 by Terry
Gilkyson, Richard Dehr, and Frank Miller. Signed to Columbia Records under Mitch
Miller, their breakthrough came with "Marianne" in early 1957. The group
composed tunes for the 1958 documentary Windjammer, including "Kari Waits for
Me" and "Sugar Cane". Gilkyson's song "The Cry of the Wild Goose" reached Number
1 for Frankie Laine, with whom the Easy Riders collaborated on "Love is a Golden
