The Delta Rhythm Boys, an American vocal group, were formed in 1934 at Langston
University in Oklahoma. The original lineup included Elmaurice Miller, Traverse
Crawford, Essie Joseph Adkins, and Otha Lee Gaines. They gained prominence
through vocal adaptations of popular jazz and pop songs like "Dry Bones" and
"Take the A Train", a 1943 adaptation of Billy Strayhorn's composition. The
group moved to Europe in 1956, basing themselves in Paris, and continued
