The Delgados were formed in 1994 in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, by guitarist
and vocalist Alun Woodward, drummer Paul Savage, bassist Stewart Henderson, and
later joined by vocalist and guitarist Emma Pollock. Their early work began with
the 1995 single "Monica Webster" on their own Chemikal Underground label, which
gained attention from BBC DJ John Peel and was named Melody Maker single of the
week. The band released the EP Lazarwalker the same year, before debuting the
studio album Domestiques in 1996, which was praised for its energetic sound. In
