The Cambridge Singers were founded in 1981 in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United
Kingdom, by conductor John Rutter, a former music director of the Choir of Clare
College, Cambridge. The ensemble began as a chamber choir composed of former
Clare College singers and immediately focused on producing recordings under
their own label, Collegium Records. Their early releases included Cambridge
Singers A Cappella (1993) and A Banquet of Voices (1994), which established
