A post-hardcore band from Gympie, Queensland, Australia, The Amity Affliction
was founded in 2003 by high-school students Ahren Stringer, singer, and Troy
Brady, guitarist. The name was inspired by the death of a close friend in a car
accident. Gradually, over the course of 2004, the band was enriched by the
arrival of Joel Birch as singer, Garth Buchanan as bassist and Lachlan Faulkner
as drummer. But the two musicians left the band in 2007 after recording an EP of
the same name two years earlier. Changes followed, with the arrival of drummer
