The Allman Joys was an American rock band that was active between 1965 and 1967.
The ensemble was fronted by the brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman and
evolved from an earlier group named the Escorts. They achieved early
professional attention after auditioning for the producer Bob Johnston at
Columbia Records while backing the trio the Sandpipers. The group released the
single “Spoonful” (1966), which achieved local commercial success. The ensemble
disbanded in 1967 when the brothers left to form the band Hour Glass. Their
