Terra Samba, a Brazilian band from Salvador, Bahia, was formed in 1991 by Mário
Ornelas and Edson Souza. They created the name Terra Samba to revive samba de
roda in Bahian music. Their breakthrough came in 1989 with their debut album
Gerasamba. The band released several albums, including Deus É Brasileiro (1996)
and Liberar Geral (1997). In 1998, they signed with Globo/Polydor and released
the live album Terra Samba ao Vivo e a Cores, certified double diamond by ABPD
