Tamyra Monica Gray, born July 26, 1979, in Takoma Park, Maryland, is an American
actress, singer, and songwriter. Gray began singing at a young age and competed
in several beauty pageants, including being named Miss Atlanta in 1998. Gray
finished in fourth place on the first season of American Idol in 2002. A
performance of "A House Is Not a Home" (2002) was notably praised by judge Simon
Cowell. Gray released a debut album, The Dreamer (2004), which included the
single "Raindrops Will Fall" (2004). The album sold 122,000 copies. Gray
