Cecilia Cipressi, known professionally as Syria, was born on February 26, 1977,
in Rome, Italy. She is an Italian singer who gained recognition through her
participation in the Sanremo Music Festival. In 1996, she won the Newcomers
competition with “Non ci sto” and competed in the Big Artists category the
following year with “Sei tu”. Syria’s debut album, Syria, was released in 1996,
