Switchfoot
Emerging on the Christian rock scene in the mid-1990s under the name Chin Up,
the San Diego-based California band took inspiration from a surfing icon for its
new name, Switchfoot. Influenced by grunge, brothers Jon Foreman (vocals,
guitar) and Tim Foreman (bass, vocals), accompanied by Jerome Fontamillas
(guitar, keyboards) and Chad Butler (drums), play an alternative rock sound that
they showcased on the albums The Legend of Chin (1997), New Way to Be Human
